When you’r lucky enough to live in a country where the sun never stops shining, it’s likely that you have a drawer of safe swimwear favourites. Embracing each season’s new swimwear trends can be a daunting task. There are so many things to consider from fit concerns, age appropriacy versus style to affordability and value for money. But ladies, it’s summer so it’s time to live a little! Here at Redtag, we know that life is too short to get stuck in a swimsuit rut, so we’ve compiled our unique take on this seasson’s trends, guaranteed to put you on the summer style map whatever your destination.
Sleeved swimming costumes are a huge trend this summer and, when it comes to standing out but staying safe in the sun, they tick all the boxes. The Miami Swim Week 2019 Sports Illustrated runway was opened by Halima Aden wearing a Cynthis Rowley burkini and celebrated that you can enjoy the sun whatever size, ethnicity or age. Marysia Dobrzanska Reeves, Marysia Founder stated: “I’ve designed new rashguards and hats for women and kids to provide extra sun protection”. And now, at Redtag we are hot on her heels. Not just something to wear when you jet ski, this navy and pink number is perfect to protect you from the sun and would suit any shape. Confidence and safety guaranteed.
In the Miami Swim Week 2019, ultra high, 80’s inspired cuts stole the show. The runway was awash with high exaggerations of the suit with brands like Revival and SageSwim centre stage. For most women the concept is a worst nightmare but, believe it or not, high-cut styles are designed to elongate and lengthen legs, so they are good for almost all body shapes, particularly for petite.
Since it looks like this is one trend which is not going away, here at Redtag, we’ve designed this ‘friendlier’ version of the trend which really does work wonders for your legs. Coupled with the halter-neck, it provides the perfect balance of daring will have you cat-walking that pool in no time!
Flirty floral and retro inspired prints have transformed more traditional swimwear this season. Tour favourite shapes reinvented. Think Laura Ashley or Club Tropicana for inspiration. Here at Redtag, we have embraced this trend to the fullest. We think this works particularly well for the more reserved of swimwearers. This retro print swimsuit, with its wrap knotted detail is flattering and perfect for nay shape. The cream and brown pattern elevates the more traditional navy or black silhouette you may be more used to choosing, allowing you to be just that little bit more daring. Meanwhile, this fresh and clean white and turquoise wallpaper floral swimsuit will set off a darker skin tone and subtly flatter your curves to perfection.
Knotted detail has gained momentum in the swimwear trends of 2049 and are big with designers and wearers alike since the design feature allows customisation of a swimsuit so that it fits you just as you want it to. Rebecca Morton, Peony founder states that “as each body is unique, we feel it’s a functional design addition with longevity”.
True to form, this pink swimsuit is not only bang on trends with its retro floral print, but it also has a perfectly placed knotted tie which, tied strategically can hide a tummy or add curves to a straight frame. On trends and comfort table too. Who can argue with that?
